Late Saturday, a driver was killed after their vehicle crashed into a gate at the White House complex. According to a spokesperson from the U.S. Secret Service, the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the incident.
According to an official statement, the White House was not under any threat when a vehicle crashed into a barricade around 10:30 p.m.
According to the statement, officers implemented security protocols as they cleared the vehicle and attempted to provide assistance to the driver, who was found deceased.
The Washington Metropolitan Police, in collaboration with the Secret Service, will conduct a thorough investigation into the crash.
The police officials stated that currently, the Major Crash Investigations Unit of MPD is conducting an investigation into the incident solely as a traffic crash.
