Most of the neighbors Atlanta News First spoke with said the neighborhood is usually peaceful. It shocked many that this happened in their backyards.
Audrey Jackson, a local resident, stated, “It’s extremely close to home, you know. It’s insane to believe that something like that could happen so close and go unnoticed. Imagine that four people are positioned side by side near your residence.
Brandi Wright, who lives extremely close to the residence where the deaths occurred, reported hearing something peculiar around 12:30 a.m. She explained: “It had just started pouring, and my mother had exclaimed, ‘Did you hear that? It sounds like thunder. I told her, ‘I don’t think that was thunder.’ It sounded just like a gunshot, because it was much louder than thunder.”
Wright appeared visibly distressed as she spoke about the deaths. She stated that when she awoke in the morning, a neighbor called to tell her what had happened. She went on to say, “This has never happened in this area before.
“I live right around the block, and it’s unbelievable how near it is. You can’t even be safe in your own home anymore. This is ridiculous. I’m very nervous about it… I’ve lived here my entire life, and finding out about this is insane.”
