During a Sunday morning interview on Fox News, Rep. Elise Stefanik expressed her displeasure at being questioned about her loyalty to former President Donald Trump.
During a recent interview on “Fox News Sunday,” the New York Republican engaged in a passionate discussion with host Shannon Bream. The topic of their exchange revolved around Bream’s question regarding how her support for Trump has evolved over time. This inquiry comes at a time when she is being considered as a potential running mate for Trump. To back up her point, Bream referenced an article from the New York Times.
Stefanik expressed her pride in supporting him and criticized the use of a New York Times article that focused solely on negative quotes. As the only Republican elected woman from the Northeast who voted for him in 2016, she emphasized her strong support for him and proudly identified herself as one of his most loyal allies today.
Bream defended the Times reporting and concluded the conversation by stating, “We are aware of the current situation and encourage individuals to read the article themselves. It includes numerous names and individuals who have gone on the record. And that’s all we have to say about it.”
Stefanik criticized President Joe Biden during her speech to lawmakers in Israel on Sunday for his decision to withhold military aid. Bream suggested that Stefanik’s visit to Israel may have been an attempt to impress Trump and increase her chances of becoming his running mate.
Stefanik emphasized the unwavering support of the House Republican majority for Israel, stating, “The world needs to know, and Israel needs to know, that the House Republican majority stands strongly with Israel.” She criticized what she saw as weak and failed leadership from President Joe Biden, asserting that this did not align with the views of the American people or the United States Congress.
White House spokesperson, Andrew Bates, responded to the congresswoman’s address, emphasizing that President Biden has been a steadfast supporter of Israel. Bates stated that Israel has no “better friend” than President Biden, highlighting that he made history by being the first American president to visit Israel during a time of war.
According to Bates, President Biden has shown unwavering support for Israel’s security. Bates also pointed out that unlike certain individuals on the right, President Biden did not criticize the Israeli government after the events of October 7th, nor has he ever praised terrorist organizations like Hezbollah. Bates emphasized that President Biden will not be lectured by anyone who remained silent in the face of such offensive statements. Furthermore, Bates stressed that it is important not to confuse the individuals who attacked police officers on January 6th with the innocent hostages who were taken captive by Hamas on October 7th.
