Two men are in the hospital, and two suspects are at large, following an attempted robbery in Hell’s Kitchen early Sunday morning, in which a shooter shot the victim and one of his accomplices, according to the NYPD.
At approximately 4:30 a.m., a 35-year-old man was exiting a building near 50th Street and 12th Avenue when two suspects approached him at gunpoint, according to police.
The criminals attempted to take the man’s chain, but a struggle occurred. One of the would-be bandits fired on the victim for resisting, striking him in the arm.
Officials report that EMS transported the 35-year-old to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where he is currently in a stable condition.
As they fled to a white Honda Accord, where a getaway vehicle was waiting, the muggers continued shooting, and according to police, they hit a 21-year-old culprit in the process.
They brought their wounded accomplice to NYU Langone Health, where he is likely to survive, according to officials.
The 21-year-old is in police custody, but his identity and the allegations against him remain unknown.
It is still unknown whether the victim knew his attackers or not.
Authorities are looking for two more individuals, and the investigation is ongoing.
