As per forecasts, a cold front is set to hit New York on June 14, Friday morning. Hochul has announced this news, warning the residents of possible thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds and heavy rainfall in the Capital Region and Mid-Hudson Valley regions.
According to Hochul’s office, the storm system has the potential to bring multiple hazards, including flash flooding, perilous traveling conditions, and power outages.
Unfortunately, things are about to go from bad to worse as a storm is anticipated to hit in a few days’ time. Adding to the misery, a spell of scorching heat is forecasted to begin on Monday, June 17th, and persist throughout the week. This heatwave will make the affected regions feel even hotter than 100 degrees Fahrenheit on Tuesday, June 18th, and Wednesday, June 19th.
Governor Hochul urged New Yorkers to prioritize their safety and wellbeing during the upcoming week, as the severe storms, heat, and humidity can pose a significant health risk, especially for the vulnerable population. She emphasized her administration’s commitment to closely monitoring the weather impacts and advised citizens to keep a watchful eye on the weather forecast, stay hydrated, and have a plan to cool off if needed.
