Jake Paul and Mike Tyson’s highly anticipated boxing match has been rescheduled for a new date.
The much-anticipated fight between the former heavyweight champion and the YouTuber-turned-prizefighter, which was originally scheduled to take place on July 20, had to be postponed due to Tyson’s medical issues. However, fans can now rejoice as the fight has been rescheduled for November 15 at AT&T Stadium.
The fact that Paul-Tyson’s new fight will take place on a Friday as opposed to a Saturday, which is the usual day for major boxing events, is sure to catch people’s attention. However, it makes sense given that the Dallas Cowboys will be hosting the Houston Texans on November 18th for “Monday Night Football.” By scheduling the fight on a Friday, the stadium will have ample time to prepare for the upcoming Cowboys game.
When the July date for the fight was initially set, there wasn’t much competition in terms of sports events, as the NFL season hadn’t started yet and the NBA Finals had ended. However, Tyson experienced an ulcer flare-up during a flight from Miami to Los Angeles on May 26, which required medical attention. As a result, the fight had to be postponed, and Tyson was advised by doctors to limit his training until his condition improved over the next few weeks.
Tyson expressed his gratitude towards the medical staff who treated him and MVP, Netflix, and AT&T Stadium for their efforts in finding a new reschedule date for the fight. Despite the postponement, he stated that he will resume his training soon. The former heavyweight champion confidently added that regardless of when they fight, the result will remain the same and that Jake Paul will be knocked out.
Mike Tyson is all set to celebrate his 58th birthday on June 30, and when he enters the ring to face Logan Paul, there will be a whopping 31-year age gap between the two. This will mark the biggest age difference in the history of professional boxing. Interestingly, Tyson’s return to the ring will be after a hiatus of over 19 years since his last professional fight. On the other hand, Paul, who is 27 years old, will be stepping into the ring for the first time since his victory over Ryan Bourland in March earlier this year.
The upcoming co-feature will see the female fighters facing an extended break. At 35 years old, Serrano has not stepped into the ring since October, when she triumphantly defended her WBA, WBO, IBF and The Ring women’s featherweight titles against Danila Ramos. Although she was scheduled to fight Nina Meinke in Puerto Rico on December 21st, the bout was called off due to an eye injury that left her “medically unfit” to compete.
At the age of 37, Taylor made her most recent appearance in the ring last November. After experiencing her first professional defeat, she came back strong and secured a majority decision victory over Chantelle Cameron. This win earned her the title of undisputed super lightweight champion.
At the moment, there is no news about whether or not the professional boxing debut of MMA fighter Darren Till against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will take place, or if the fight between up-and-coming lightweight contenders Ashton “H2O” Sylve and Floyd “Kid Austin” Schofield will still be included on the card.
The much-awaited Paul-Tyson bout is all set to be streamed live on Netflix. It is a sanctioned professional fight where the results will have an impact on their pro records. The heavyweight contest will be divided into eight two-minute rounds. Fans can gear up for an intense battle between these two fighters.
If you already bought tickets, you’re in luck! The tickets you purchased will be valid for the new date of November 15. However, if you can’t make it to the rescheduled show, you have until July 8 to claim a refund from the same place you originally bought your tickets.
