NBA player Kelly Oubre Jr. experienced a double loss on Monday night. Not only did his team, the Sixers, fall to the Knicks in Game 2 of their playoff series, but he also had a unfortunate accident with his cherished Lamborghini. According to TMZ Sports, just hours after the game, Oubre Jr. wrecked his car in a crash.
The Philadelphia Police Department informed us that the crash occurred at approximately 1:45 AM on Tuesday. This incident took place shortly after Oubre and the 76ers lost a close game at Madison Square Garden, with a final score of 104-101.
According to authorities, Oubre’s matte purple Lambo from 2021 allegedly ran a red traffic signal and collided with a 2023 Hyundai Elantra.
Fortunately, according to police, there were no reported injuries. However, they did mention that both vehicles suffered damage and had to be towed away from the scene.
It is undoubtedly a devastating setback for Oubre… as he has previously expressed his admiration for the Lambo — even going as far as posing for pictures with it during a shoot for Intersection Magazine.
Adding insult to injury, he and his Sixers face the daunting task of winning four out of the next five games against New York to advance in the postseason.
Later on Thursday, Oubre will have an opportunity to regain his momentum as Philadelphia is set to face New York in Game 3 at the Wells Fargo Center at 4:30 PM PT.
