Guinness World Records has confirmed that Kevin, the world’s tallest male dog, has passed away shortly after his record-breaking feat was announced. Kevin was able to reach an impressive height of approximately 7 feet when standing on his hind legs. His passing is a loss to the canine world and those who were amazed by his remarkable stature.
Guinness World Records reported that a Great Dane who resided with his family in West Des Moines, Iowa, passed away this week after undergoing an unplanned surgery following an illness. The three-year-old dog will be deeply missed by his loved ones.
In a heartfelt statement, Kevin’s owner Tracy Wolfe expressed her family’s devastation over the loss of their beloved giant boy. “He was just the best,” she said. Despite their grief, they found some solace in the fact that Kevin was able to break a record and bask in the spotlight. “He absolutely adored the attention,” Wolfe shared. However, like all dog owners, she wished for more time with her furry companion. “I wish these giant breeds, and all dogs, could live longer than they do. It’s never enough time,” she lamented.
Guinness reports that Kevin stood at a towering height of about 7 feet when he stood up on his hind legs, but his official record was measured from his feet to his withers, which came out to be 0.97 meters (equivalent to 3 feet and 2 inches).
According to Wolfe, Kevin’s most beloved activity is taking naps. It seems that his favourite pastime is holding down the couch. Wolfe describes Kevin as a funny and extremely friendly companion. However, he can be overly friendly at times, so it’s best to keep your mouth closed around him. Despite this, everyone loves to see Kevin around, as long as they don’t get hit by his tail.
On average, a Great Dane measures up to 0.76 m (2 ft 6 in) at the withers. Interestingly, when standing on its hind legs, a Great Dane can even be taller than its owner, such as was the case with Roger Wolfe and his furry companion.
In their statement announcing his death, Guinness mentioned that despite his many talents, he was also a bit of a scaredy cat who would run away in terror whenever the vacuum came near him.
According to a representative from Guinness World Records, they were saddened to hear about Kevin’s sudden passing due to unforeseen health complications. Tracy, along with the veterinary clinic staff, made every effort to save him. The Wolfe family is currently going through a tough time, and the spokesperson expressed their condolences and support for them.
