Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) claims that the FBI has his phone in their possession. This came after an attempt to scam him by someone impersonating Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.). This incident has raised concerns about the possibility of one of the senators’ phones being hacked.
Graham revealed during his speech at the Hill & Valley Forum, as reported by The Washington Times, that his phone is now in the possession of the FBI.
“I received what I thought was a message from Schumer, but it turned out it wasn’t actually from him. Suddenly, my phone started acting up. It just goes to show that anything you create can be vulnerable to hacking.”
Graham is currently investigating the potential hack, according to Taylor Reidy, a spokesperson for the organization.
According to Reidy, the Sergeant at Arms is currently conducting an investigation into a potential breach of Senator Graham’s phone.
According to a Democratic aide, Graham should have immediately been skeptical of any text message claiming to be from Schumer. The reason being that Schumer is known for using an outdated LG flip phone, a relic from the 1990s when texting was not widely used.
According to a source, it is highly unlikely that Chuck Schumer would personally send you a text message from his flip phone. Therefore, if you receive a text message claiming to be from Schumer, it is likely not authentic.
