The Louisville Metro Police Department will review the officers who arrested golfer Scottie Scheffler to see if they followed policy, Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg told reporters Tuesday.

“I believe it is critical that we do this on a regular basis, not just at high-profile events like Friday,” Greenberg said during a news conference. “If policies are not followed, there will be transparency.” “There will be action taken.”

Greenberg said they expect to publish the video of the arrest, which happened before the second round of the PGA Championship on Friday.

Police stated there was no body-camera evidence of the altercation, but Greenberg said he saw a video shot from a pole camera across the street from the Valhalla Golf Club, which hosted last week’s PGA Championship, according to WDRB in Louisville.

Greenberg declined to explain the footage.

According to the arrest citation, Scheffler failed to halt his vehicle as cops diverted traffic following a deadly collision outside the course. The citation alleges that Scheffler “accelerated forward, dragging” one officer to the ground.

Scheffler spent less than two hours in jail before his tee time on Friday morning. He finished tied for ninth in the tournament.

The two-time Masters Champion described his detention as “a big misunderstanding.”

Scheffler faces a second-degree felony accusation of assault on a police officer, as well as misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief, careless driving, and violating traffic signals from an officer directing traffic.

We rescheduled his arraignment from Tuesday to June 3.

Scheffler will compete in the 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge, which takes place in Fort Worth, Texas, from Thursday through Sunday.
