A 44-year-old mother from Michigan was taken into custody recently for her involvement in the tragic demise of her husband. The incident took place outside a Wendy’s restaurant, where the husband was thrown off the hood of their vehicle.
Vinnice Daianie Leon faced official charges of a moving violation resulting in death related to the tragic incident that claimed the life of Robert B. Leon in March 2024, according to court records examined by Law&Crime.
Vinnice Leon made an appearance in Holland County District Court on Monday for her arraignment. She was able to secure her release from custody by posting a bond of $1,000.
The individual was taken to Corewell Health Zeeland Hospital, where medical professionals later declared him deceased.
In an interview with Grand Rapids Fox affiliate WXMI, Vinnice Leon shared more information about the events that preceded the tragic incident.
“I can’t believe it. The whole situation is just unbelievable,” she expressed to the station, highlighting that she never meant to harm her husband.
According to Vinnice Leon, the disagreement arose because she had just bought a Nintendo Switch gaming console, while her husband wanted her to buy a PlayStation 5.
“He became extremely upset, which was a side of him I had never witnessed before. It was quite surprising to see him lose control like that. I genuinely have no idea why he got so angry,” she shared, still taken aback by the intense reaction. “To make matters worse, he resorted to name-calling and displayed aggressive behavior towards me. It was truly frightening for my daughter, who screamed in sheer terror as he yelled at me. The situation escalated when he slapped me and then proceeded to punch my arm. In an attempt to diffuse the tension, I calmly reminded him, ‘You do realize I can cancel the order, right? I can easily order the PS5 instead.'”
As the terrified screams of my daughter filled the air, she pleaded with me to rescue her from the menacing figure. Without hesitation, I swiftly maneuvered the car out of the parking spot, determined to put distance between us and the source of her fear.
Vinnice Leon said she was simply attempting to drive to the nearby parking lot to allow her husband to “cool down” when he unexpectedly jumped onto the car.
Vinnice Leon faces a misdemeanor charge for the moving violation, which carries a potential punishment of up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $2,000.
