A lucky man from Maryland was informed by the owner of his local store that he had won a $50,000 lottery prize. The unexpected news left the man in shock and filled with excitement.
According to Maryland Lottery officials, a man from Glen Burnie shared that he was visiting Southgate Liquors, the same store where he bought a ticket for the Bonus Match 5 drawing held on June 11. He reported that the store owner approached him during his visit.
“I was asked by the owner if I had played Bonus Match 5 the previous day, to which I replied, ‘Why, did someone win?’ The owner confirmed that someone had indeed won and proceeded to hand over the winning numbers,” recounted the man.
After bringing the numbers home, the man compared them to his ticket and was thrilled to confirm that the digits he had been using for years had finally won him the $50,000 prize.
“The sheer disbelief made me wake up my cousin to share the news,” exclaimed the winner.
He was joined by his cousin on the prize collection journey.
“My cousin expressed his excitement as he checked again for him. He mentioned, ‘I’m really happy for him’.”
For the time being, the recipient of the prize money has expressed his plans to deposit it into his savings.
