Ahead of their CNN-moderated debate on Thursday, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) cautioned President Joe Biden against engaging in the kind of “buffoonery” that characterized former President Donald Trump’s behavior. Governor Walz drew a comparison between the two leaders, highlighting the stark contrast in their approaches to leadership.
During an interview with CNN’s Brianna Keilar on Wednesday, Governor Walz emphasized the fact that debates are not a reflection of real life. He drew upon his experience serving under both President Trump and President Biden, highlighting his lengthy tenure as governor.
“My neighbors and I had to struggle to get ventilators during the COVID-19 pandemic while dealing with President Trump’s approach. He even suggested to citizens to drink bleach which was highly concerning. However, with Joe Biden as the President, the focus is on finding practical solutions to the situation.”
During his term in the White House, the COVID-19 pandemic claimed the lives of over 400,000 people, and the governor has criticized the Trump administration’s response to the crisis. The governor also called out the former President for making a false claim that household cleaning products could cure the virus, which was widely condemned by public health officials.
During the segment, Keilar made mention of reports suggesting that the President is currently preparing to adopt a more โdisciplinedโ version of himself.
During an interview with Governor Hogan, CNN’s Brianna Keilar pointed out the unlikely pairing of the words “disciplined” and “Trump”. She went on to ask whether the upcoming debate would show a more controlled version of the former president.
According to Walz, Trump’s lack of preparation was evident during the pandemic as he failed to listen to briefs and governors.
According to the governor, Joe Biden recently called him to discuss the flooding caused by the Rapidan Dam in Mankato, showing genuine concern for the situation. This starkly contrasts with the governor’s previous comments, where he noted that there is a significant difference between the two candidates.
According to the governor, Trump’s presidential record suggests that he will face significant challenges in the upcoming days.
According to Walz, the individual in question is more of an entertainer who is known to discuss his felonies openly. However, during the expected 90-minute conversation, Walz hopes that this individual refrains from speaking about himself in his usual manner, which includes exaggerations and falsehoods.
