Police in southwest Ohio are currently investigating a potential tiger sighting near the University of Cincinnati on Monday morning.
According to Jonathan Cunningham, a spokesperson for the Cincinnati Police Department (CPD), there was a call received regarding a potential sighting of a tiger-like creature. However, after conducting a thorough search of the area, no evidence or signs of the animal were found by the officers.
The UC Department of Public Safety dispatcher, who provided assistance to CPD during the search, mentioned that the police received the call at approximately 3 a.m.
The school is located south of Cincinnati’s Clifton neighborhood, approximately 5 miles north of downtown Cincinnati.
Zoo: Both tigers accounted for
According to Michelle Curley, the Communications Director at Cincinnati Zoo, all the tigers at the zoo have been accounted for, as reported by USA TODAY.
The zoo is conveniently situated just a short distance from the university, less than a mile away.
Curley reassured the public that the park’s two tigers were safe and secure at the Zoo.
Residents were asked to avoid area
According to Cunningham, as of Monday morning around 8:45 a.m. local time, the police had not yet found the tiger, and there were no further reports of sightings.
Authorities requested that individuals steer clear of the vicinity as law enforcement officials conducted their investigation.
