A heartwarming story unfolded in North Carolina recently when a man honored a pact he made years ago by sharing his $100,000 prize from a scratch-off lottery ticket with a dear friend.
After winning $100,000 from a $2,000,000 Diamond Deluxe ticket he purchased from Carlie C’s on South Main Street, Curtis Hudson from Laurinburg wasted no time in reaching out to his friend Walter Bonds, according to North Carolina Education Lottery officials.
Bonds vividly remembered being able to hear it in his voice.
Years ago, the men entered into a lottery agreement.
“We made a pact that if one of us ever won a significant prize, we would share it,” Bonds explained. “And true to our character, we both honored our agreement.”
Both men admitted to being regular purchasers of scratch-off tickets.
“I buy whatever makes me feel good at the moment,” Hudson explained.
Hudson expressed his intention to utilize his share of the winnings in home improvement projects, while Bonds mentioned that he intends to put his portion into savings.
