At approximately 12:55 a.m., police responded to a distress call at the 1900 block of N. Croskey Street. Upon arrival, they discovered that a woman had sustained gunshot wounds to her chest. She was promptly transported to Temple University Hospital in a private vehicle.
Officers discovered a firearm on the second floor of the residence during their investigation. The gun was found near blood and did not have a magazine attached. According to the woman involved, she sustained the injuries herself and explained that the gun accidentally discharged while she was attempting to reinsert a fallen magazine. The incident occurred as she was removing the gun from her waist.
The investigation has confirmed that the wounds were self-inflicted, based on the complainant’s statement and the evidence found at the scene.
