According to authorities, two children are currently receiving medical treatment in a Connecticut Intensive Care Unit after their father was reportedly stopped by police officers from trying to drown them at a West Haven beach in the early hours of Saturday morning.
As per the investigation, while inspecting a parked SUV at Dawson Avenue Beach around 2:30 a.m., a patrol officer from the West Haven Police Department heard screams coming from the water.
According to the police, Romney Desronvil, 41, was found in the water with two children by the officer.
According to the police, the water was further aided by more members of the fire department and police officers who ventured as far as 100 yards away from the shore.
According to investigators, the father of the children, who were both under three years old, had to be separated from them by officers. The children were then rescued and brought back to shore, where they received life-saving measures before being swiftly transported to the hospital.
Later in the day, Mayor Dorinda Borer updated the reporters that the victims were displaying positive progress, but are still in critical condition.
Officer Williamson and Officer Miller were praised by the woman for their heroic actions in saving her life.
Borer expressed that this morning, they were blessed with guardian angels.
Investigators have reported that Desronvil, a resident of Queens, New York, has been taken into custody and accused of two counts each of attempted manslaughter and risk of injury.
The police have stated that they are still conducting their investigation and may bring additional charges in the future.
