A 13-year-old girl died after being dragged from a pool at Discovery Cove theme park in Orlando, Florida, according to authorities.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, deputies discovered the adolescent, Anna Beaumont, motionless in one of the park’s pools early Tuesday morning. Authorities subsequently rushed her to a neighboring hospital in critical condition.
The hospital pronounced her deceased on Wednesday, according to the sheriff’s office. The county medical examiner’s office ruled that her death was due to drowning.
A Discovery Cove representative stated that staff responded to an “emergency involving a guest” and “provided care” before emergency personnel arrived.
“Our thoughts are with this family,” a park official stated.
Discovery Cove is the sister park to SeaWorld Orlando and Aquatica Orlando. It offers guests the opportunity to engage with its animals, including swimming with dolphins.
