Authorities have reported that a recent high school graduate was shot in a bold, daytime attack in Boston. The young woman sustained injuries during the incident.
According to Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox, an 18-year-old woman was found with a gunshot wound by officers who were responding to a shooting report in the Seaport section of the city at 200 Pier 4 Boulevard just before 11:45 a.m.
The injured party, whose identity remains undisclosed, was promptly taken to a nearby medical facility for necessary medical attention.
According to Cox, the recent graduate of Boston Collaborative High School in South Boston was shot shortly after attending her graduation ceremony. Cox also mentioned the possibility of an altercation occurring prior to the shooting.
As reported by the Boston Globe, the individual responsible for the shooting was attired in a cap and gown.
Cox reported that detectives are currently working on two active crime scenes. It is believed that the victim was shot in a different location before being discovered in the Seaport.
According to Cox, the graduation ceremony was not the location where the event took place. “We want to clarify that the event did not occur in this area,” he stated.
Camilia Pagan, a resident of Roxbury who was present at the graduation ceremony where the shooting occurred, vividly recalls the chaos that ensued. “I saw people running and heard cars screeching,” she recounted.
“I could sense that something was about to happen as they were having an argument in the front,” she stated.
While enjoying her visit to Boston, Sam Miller found herself sitting in a cafรฉ when she suddenly heard a loud commotion.
Miller recounted that they could hear screams coming from all around them.
Upon looking outside, the victim was spotted by her.
According to her, there was blood on their arm, and although she wasn’t sure where the gunshot was, they were quickly taken into the stretcher for treatment.
According to Kevin Hayden, the Suffolk District Attorney, the occurrence was a “travesty” and an “unfortunate incident.”
Hayden expressed deep concern regarding the recent incident, stating that it was more than just unfortunate – it was a travesty. He firmly believed that high school students, who were simply attending their graduation ceremony on a beautiful day, should not have to experience a shooting. In his opinion, such events should not mark a joyous occasion like a graduation ceremony.
According to Cox, the public is not in danger, even though the suspect is still at large and no arrests have been made by the police.
Cox reassured the public that the recent incident was not a random occurrence and there is no need to be alarmed. He emphasized the importance of the public’s support and urged them to continue with their everyday activities as usual.
