According to a recent poll, there are some concerns for President Biden’s prospects in Arizona, a state that he won in the 2020 election.
According to a recent CBS News poll, Donald Trump is currently leading Joe Biden in Arizona by 5 percentage points. Among likely voters, Trump has the support of 52 percent, while Biden has the backing of 47 percent of respondents. This poll comes in the wake of a significant event in Arizona, where a state Supreme Court ruling upheld a law from 1864, making the act of performing an abortion a felony.
Biden’s campaign wasted no time in responding to the abortion ruling. They initiated an extensive advertising campaign in Arizona, where Biden personally appealed to voters, emphasizing that Trump’s presidency puts the reproductive rights of millions of women at risk. Trump, on the other hand, expressed his belief that abortion laws should be decided by individual states. However, he did concede that the recent ruling in Arizona went beyond what he considers reasonable.
According to the poll, 44 percent of registered voters in Arizona believe that if elected to the White House, Trump will leave the decision on abortion up to individual states. Another 33 percent of respondents think that he would make abortion illegal nationwide. Meanwhile, 23 percent either believe that Trump would not take any action regarding abortion or are unsure of his stance.
In a hypothetical match-up for Arizona’s Senate seat, Democratic Representative Ruben Gallego holds a comfortable lead over Republican Kari Lake, despite Biden trailing Trump in the poll. The poll reveals that Gallego enjoys 49 percent support, while Lake trails behind with 36 percent.
According to a recent poll conducted from May 10-16, a total of 1,510 adults residing in Arizona were surveyed. The poll has a margin of error of 3.3 percentage points for the entire sample and a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points for registered voters.
According to The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s polling average, Trump is currently leading Biden by 6.1 percentage points in a head-to-head match-up in Arizona. Trump has garnered almost 49 percent support, while Biden has received approximately 43 percent.
