According to a recent poll, a significant number of independent voters, as well as some Republicans, are calling for Donald Trump to withdraw from the presidential race.
According to a recent poll conducted by Morningside Consult, it was found that 49 percent of independent voters and 15 percent of Republican voters believe that Donald Trump should end his 2024 bid following his felony conviction. Surprisingly, only 8 percent of Trump supporters shared the same sentiment and expressed their desire for his campaign to come to an end. The poll also revealed that the majority of voters, 54 percent, approve of the historic verdict.
On Thursday, a Manhattan jury convicted Trump of 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection with an election conspiracy. This scheme aimed to conceal a $130,000 payment made to adult film star Stormy Daniels, whose account of an affair posed a significant threat to his 2016 presidential campaign.
Donald Trump’s sentencing is scheduled for July 11th, which is just a few days before the Republican National Convention, where he is expected to be officially named the GOP presidential candidate.
According to the Morningside Consult poll, 69 percent of voters believe that a fine would be a suitable punishment for Trump, while 49 percent think that Judge Juan Merchan should consider placing him on probation. Interestingly, the poll also revealed that half of the voters are against a prison sentence for Trump.
President Joe Biden expressed his disapproval of the trial’s reckless attacks and emphasized that the verdict serves as proof of the effectiveness of the justice system.
According to the speaker, Donald Trump had ample opportunity to defend himself. He emphasized that the case against Trump was brought in a state court, not a federal one, and was decided by a regular jury consisting of 12 citizens. The speaker emphasized that these jurors were selected in the same manner as any other jury in America.
In the aftermath of his conviction, there are some ardent Trump supporters who are resorting to online calls for violence.
One user on a Trump-focused message board expressed their strong desire to locate and engage with all of the jurors involved in a particular case. They emphasized the importance of leaving no stone unturned in this pursuit.
Another person, making an explicit reference to lynching, suggested, “Just give them the rope. The time for talking has long gone. Let them swing outside the courthouse.”
