A Palestinian baby girl, who was born prematurely after her mother was killed in an Israeli airstrike, has tragically passed away, according to her uncle.
Sabreen Jouda passed away in a Gaza hospital on Thursday. Despite the efforts of medical teams, her health declined and they were unable to save her, according to her uncle, Rami al-Sheikh.
Late on Saturday night, an Israeli airstrike struck Sabreen’s residence in Rafah, a city located in southern Gaza. Tragically, her parents and 4-year-old sister lost their lives in the incident.
Sabreen was laid to rest next to her father on Thursday, according to Al-Sheikh, who shared this information with The Associated Press.
Over 34,000 Palestinians have lost their lives in the Israel-Hamas conflict, as reported by local health officials. Shockingly, two-thirds of the casualties consist of women and children. It is important to note that the health officials do not distinguish between combatants and civilians in their count.
Israel responded to Hamas’ attack on southern Israel by declaring war and launching a comprehensive air and ground offensive in Gaza. In the wake of the militants’ assault, which resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,200 individuals and the capture of 250 hostages, Israel took decisive action to defend its citizens.
Rafah has become a safe haven for over half of Gaza’s 2.3 million residents, who are seeking refuge amidst the persistent raids conducted by Israel. These raids are part of Israel’s preparations for a potential offensive in the city.
