Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. expressed on Sunday that he remains unfazed by the overwhelming support his family has shown towards President Biden for the upcoming November election.
Kennedy acknowledged at a Detroit campaign event on Sunday that there are certain members of his family who are not supportive of his decision to run for office, as reported by The Associated Press.
“I engaged in discussions with them using facts and heartfelt conviction, without allowing our disagreements to foster animosity,” he expressed. “Regardless of our differing views, I hold deep affection for my family.”
The Biden campaign has secured the support of almost the entire Kennedy family, leveraging their endorsements to launch a powerful ad campaign against Kennedy. The campaign seeks to portray Kennedy as a potential danger to the Democratic party, as his actions could potentially pave the way for former President Trump’s return to the White House.
“I have a deep love for my family, and I genuinely feel their love for me,” expressed Kennedy on Sunday. “It is my sincere wish that this same sentiment could be extended to our entire nation, where we can embrace our differences without resorting to hatred.”
Kennedy has managed to secure ballot access in several swing states, including Michigan. This has raised concerns among Democrats, who worry that he could potentially play the role of a spoiler and inadvertently help Trump win those states.
Kennedy is currently lagging behind Biden and Trump in the polls. According to the average from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ, in three-way polls among the top candidates, Kennedy has approximately 7 percent support, while Biden holds 41 percent and Trump holds 42 percent.
