Russia is warning George Clooney to be cautious, as they believe he is nothing more than a mediocre actor.
Dmitry Medvedev, the country’s security chief, expressed his disagreement with Clooney’s Foundation for Justice on Saturday. In a tweet, Medvedev claimed that the renowned actor intends to utilize his foundation to track down and prosecute Russian journalists worldwide. However, Medvedev confidently asserted that the journalists from Russia would locate Clooney before he could carry out such actions.
The Clooney Foundation, established by the actor along with his wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, has faced criticism from Russian officials who accuse the foundation of actively seeking to apprehend Russian journalists.
According to a report from Russian news agency TASS, the foundation is urging EU countries to impose penalties on Russian journalists who provide favorable coverage of Russia’s attacks on Ukraine, deeming it as promoting “war propaganda.” The initiative has been labeled as “insane” by a spokesperson from the Kremlin.
Medvedev went a step further, issuing an ominous warning directed at the actor. “There is a certain mediocre actor named George Clooney who has chosen to utilize his Foundation to track down Russian journalists worldwide and subject them to persecution,” Medvedev shared on X, emphasizing that Russian journalists are “extremely observant and extensively skilled individuals.”
In a recent tweet, Medvedev playfully hinted at being a fan of George Clooney’s films. He suggested that Russian journalists might have a conversation with Clooney, using the movie reference “From Dusk Till Dawn.” It remains to be seen whether Medvedev is truly a fan or simply adept at using film references in his tweets.
