At 9:55 a.m., a powerful earthquake struck the El Sereno area, located just south of South Pasadena.
No damage has been reported at this time.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported that residents in the San Gabriel Valley and certain areas of Los Angeles experienced the tremors.
The earthquake happened in close proximity to Alhambra, South Pasadena, Monterey Park, and East Los Angeles, all within a distance of one mile.
Over the past 10 days, a single earthquake with a magnitude of 3.0 or higher has occurred in close proximity.
According to a recent three-year data sample, the greater Los Angeles area experiences an average of five earthquakes per year with magnitudes ranging from 3.0 to 4.0.
