In a post on the social media platform X, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) criticized President Biden, referring to him as a “demented man.”
“Our President is being supported by individuals who are willing to do anything to stay in power, even if it means destroying our country,” Rubio expressed in a post. The post included a video of Biden after his announcement regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict.
As the video plays, Biden casually walks away from the podium while someone poses a question to him.
The person asked President Biden, “Mr. President, former President Trump refers to himself as a ‘political prisoner’ and blames you directly. What is your response to that, sir?”
Mid-question, the president abruptly halts his stride, pivots on his heels, and flashes a warm smile.
The Trump National Committee JFC sent an email trying to raise funds based on the former president’s recent guilty verdict in his New York hush money case. The email included a photo of Trump, referring to him as a “political prisoner.”
On Thursday, Trump made history as the first former president to be convicted of a felony. A jury found him guilty on all charges of falsifying business records in order to conceal alleged affairs during his 2016 campaign.
Marco Rubio, who is being considered as a potential candidate for Trump’s vice presidential slot in 2024, is among several prominent Republicans who have voiced their criticism of the verdict in the hush money case.
During an appearance on Fox News’ “Hannity” on Thursday, Senator Rubio expressed his strong disapproval of the conviction of a former president on what he deemed as a baseless charge. He expressed concern over the implications of such actions, stating that it sets a dangerous precedent where anyone can be targeted in a similar manner.
“And the majority of individuals are unable to financially combat these challenges.”
