Authorities have confirmed that the man who shot and killed five individuals and left a 13-year-old girl in critical condition at several apartments near Las Vegas has taken his own life. This tragic incident has left the community in shock and mourning for the victims and their families.
According to the North Las Vegas Police Department, Eric Adams, who was suspected of being the shooter, took his own life when confronted by officers in a residential area on Tuesday morning. The authorities had been on the lookout for him following the shootings that occurred in different apartment units on Monday night.
The Associated Press made several attempts to reach out to Adams’ relatives for comment, but was unsuccessful at the time of writing.
Late Monday, when investigating reports of a shooting at an apartment in North Las Vegas, police discovered two deceased women. The department reported that one of the women was in her early 40s and the other in her late 50s.
During the investigation, the department discovered that a teenage girl had been taken to the hospital with critical gunshot wounds and that there might be additional victims in a nearby apartment. The officers promptly conveyed the teenager to the UMC Trauma Center, where she remains in critical condition, according to the police.
After the discovery, authorities launched an immediate search for Adams, who was deemed to be “armed and dangerous.”
Police received information on Tuesday morning at approximately 10 a.m. that the suspect had been spotted at a business located in North Las Vegas.
Upon arriving in the vicinity, law enforcement officials spotted an individual brandishing a firearm, making a beeline for the backyard of a nearby residence. The authorities pursued him, but despite repeated requests to surrender his weapon, the perpetrator chose to take his own life.
The police have not yet revealed the reason behind the shootings, labeling it as an “isolated incident.” Despite several attempts to contact the police department, a spokesperson remained unavailable to provide any further information via phone and email as of Tuesday.
