According to CBS News affiliate KUTV, the 3-year-old son of rodeo star Spencer Wright regained consciousness and showed signs of improvement by lifting his head and opening his eyes after being unconscious for several days due to an accident.
Levi Wright had been riding a toy tractor near their home on May 21 when he accidentally veered too close to the creek, as reported by CBS News. Unfortunately, he was swept away by the strong current and ended up a mile downstream, where he was later found unconscious.
According to social media updates from his mother, Kallie Wright, the toddler was airlifted to Primary Children’s Hospital and is currently still there. In a recent post on Friday, she joyfully shared that “LEVI WOKE UP!” after being unconscious for several days.
“I can’t say much, but the doctor gave me the green light to feel excited, and boy, am I thrilled!” she exclaimed. “My little one is such a fighter!”
A few hours later, Wright provided an update on Levi’s condition, stating that he had shown signs of improvement. According to Wright, Levi had “opened his eyes for a period of time, wiggled with purpose and less like just a reflex as before.” Despite this positive development, Wright acknowledged that the family still faced a challenging and lengthy journey ahead.
According to Wright, Spencer and I had a strong sense that he was aware of our presence and could hear us. Despite being sedated, he has had brief moments of wakefulness. In fact, he even woke up while we were discussing his passion for excavators and tractors with one of the doctors!
On Friday evening, Wright revealed that Levi had undergone an MRI scan with discouraging results. The outcome of the scan was devastating for both Levi and her husband, leaving them shattered.
“It’s only through images that we get a glimpse of the quality of life,” she expressed. “But the true story will unfold in the actions of Levi over the next few days. Please keep praying! I haven’t lost hope for my baby just yet.”
Wright mentioned that she is still consulting with neurologists and other experts to seek their valuable insights. She also revealed that she and her husband have decided to limit the frequency of their updates in the upcoming days.
Kallie and Spencer Wright are proud parents of three children, one of whom is Levi. At just 33 years old, Spencer Wright has achieved an impressive ranking as No. 40 in the world in saddle bronc riding.
