The SPCA has reported that the woman who was caught on camera abandoning a dog on the side of a road in Westchester County has been arrested.
Marissa Levy has been arrested and charged with animal abandonment, according to the SPCA.
Levy was seen on video tossing a little Labrador Retriever puppy from his SUV on Lotus Road in New Rochelle and driving away.
An anonymous tip played a vital role in identifying the woman.
“It’s hard to fathom how someone could heartlessly abandon a helpless animal, but we’re grateful that a kind-hearted Samaritan took quick action and saved Rosie,” expressed Shannon Laukhuf, CEO of SPCA Westchester.
The family whose camera captured the heartbreaking scene adopted the dog and rescued her. They decided to rename her Rosie.
