The Connecticut Department of Justice announced that Gregory Crichlow, a resident of Springfield, has been sentenced for the murder of Gregory “Monte” Scott, Jr., aged 24, and Jennifer Hicks, aged 20, in March. The sentencing was conducted on Thursday, June 27.
On August 2, 2020, there was a shooting incident reported at the Buckland Hills commuter lot in the town of Manchester. The police in Hartford County were immediately called to the scene to investigate. According to the investigators, the incident occurred when a group of people had gathered there for illegal street races. At that time, Chrichlow arrived at the scene and pulled up next to Scott’s car. He then got out of his car and opened fire on the three individuals inside the car from close proximity.
According to Gregory Scott Sr., the father of Scott, the conviction of Crichlow came at a high cost and is nothing more than a “Pyrrhic victory.”
According to the Connecticut State’s Attorney’s Office, he told the court, “The damage inflicted upon my family by the defendant is insurmountable and irreversible. My loss is much greater thus far. However, justice has prevailed.”
According to Jenna Hick’s mother, Ericka Ortega, her daughter was a vibrant and loving person who possessed intelligence, ambition, and courage. She was not afraid to take risks and lived life to the fullest. However, the defendant’s actions resulted in the loss of an innocent life, causing immense pain and suffering for the family. Ericka and her family pray for justice to be served so that they can finally find closure and begin to heal.
