Steve Bannon, the former executive of President Trump’s 2016 campaign, expressed strong criticism towards House Republicans on Monday. He asserted that these Republicans have a desire to see the “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) movement fade away and are hoping for the former president to fail in his potential 2024 White House bid.
“Why isn’t Ohio GOP Rep. Jim Jordan being investigated for criminal conspiracy by Fani Willis in Georgia and ‘Big Tish James’ in New York City?” Bannon questioned during an episode of his popular “War Room” podcast.
“The Justice Department has failed to take action by sending letters to preserve documents and holding hearings to address the matter,” Bannon pointed out. He questioned the lack of action in breaking up these issues and suggested that the reason behind it is the lack of support for Trump within the department.
The conservative pundit criticized Jordan, the House Judiciary Committee chair, stating that the Ohio Republican’s backing of Trump has been purely for show.
Bannon jokingly remarked, “Instead of going on ‘Hannity’ and announcing your plans and tweeting about them, show me your actions.”
“There is absolutely no support for President Trump. I cannot stress this enough: absolutely none,” he concluded.
Amid mounting criticism of Republican leadership, several lawmakers are now supporting calls to remove Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), according to Bannon.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) teamed up with Bannon on the show to talk about Johnson’s declining popularity among supporters of Trump’s “Make America Great Again” movement. This decline is attributed to the approval of a foreign aid bill that includes aid for Ukraine.
According to her, Johnson has betrayed not only the Republican party, but also Republican voters and the Republican conference. She emphasizes that voters are extremely angry about this betrayal.
Bannon joined the chorus of voices from the Georgia Republican party, expressing the same sentiment as others: “Johnson’s departure is necessary.”
