A man struck actor Steve Buscemi in the face on a New York City street, but his publicist confirmed his recovery on Sunday.
Late Wednesday morning in Manhattan, a beating left the 66-year-old star of “Fargo” and “Boardwalk Empire” with bruises, swelling, and bleeding in his left eye.
“Steve Buscemi was assaulted in Midtown Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city,” according to a statement from his publicist on Sunday. “He is okay and appreciates everyone’s well wishes.”
The New York Post was the first to report the assault.
The New York Police Department issued a nameless statement regarding the assault on Wednesday. Buscemi’s representative confirmed Sunday that the anonymous assault victim in the police report was the actor.
The police department reports that there have been no arrests and that the investigation is still ongoing.
On March 31, a rock struck Michael Stuhlbarg, Buscemi’s “Boardwalk Empire” co-star, in the back of the neck while he was strolling in Manhattan’s Central Park. Stuhlbarg pursued his attacker, leading to his apprehending outside the park.
