A 4-year-old boy was saved from a stray hockey puck during a Cleveland Monster’s game by a stranger. The boy’s mother had been hoping to find the hero who rescued her son, and thanks to a TikTok video, she was able to locate him within a few hours.
According to The Washington Post, there was a close call with only a minute left in the game. A player slapped the puck, and it flew into the stands towards a young boy named Nasir. Fortunately, a fan sitting next to Nasir quickly reacted and blocked the puck with his arm. If he hadn’t done so, the puck would have struck the little boy in the head.
Asia Davis, Nasir’s mother, expressed her gratitude to the man and even had her son take a picture with him. However, as the night wore on, Asia began to realize the potential danger they had narrowly escaped. Filled with a mix of relief and concern, she reached out to the Monsters for assistance in finding the stranger. The empathetic employees assured her that they would make every effort to help. As they worked on connecting her with the kind-hearted stranger, Asia took matters into her own hands and started her own search on TikTok.
On April 14, Asia shared a video where she showcased a photograph of the man who saved her son. She reached out to see if anyone recognized him.
“I can’t help but feel queasy when I reflect on it because my response time was embarrassingly slow,” she confessed. “This guy, though, he truly came to my son’s rescue. He averted a potentially life-altering incident.”
Within just eight hours of being published, the video had amassed a staggering 4 million views, rapidly spreading like wildfire across the internet. Notably, the heroic figure of Andrew Podolak, who was responsible for saving the day, had also come across the video. Taking the opportunity to reach out, he expressed his gratitude for being at the precise location at the perfect moment.
The Monsters organized a special reunion for Asia, Andrew, and Nasir during the game held at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on April 14th. The three of them came together for a memorable photo shoot and also had the honor of participating in the pre-game puck drop.
“I witnessed it gliding towards us, and my immediate reaction was to shield myself,” Andrew recounted in an interview with Fox News 8. “There were a few other children seated behind me too. So, I quickly moved in front of them, managing to deflect it with my hand, and fortunately, it passed over them and landed behind me.”
