Around 4,000 people gathered on the iconic Champs-Élysées in Paris, turning the renowned street into a sprawling picnic area. Bathed in glorious sunshine, the crowd indulged in an outdoor feast, enjoying their meal al fresco.

A fortunate group of picnickers were chosen through a random draw and gifted with complimentary baskets filled with delectable treats from renowned Parisian chefs. The baskets comprised an assortment of delectable items such as puff pastries and innovative sandwiches.

The food was cooked in eight temporary kitchens that were set up along the avenue. These kitchens were provided by various restaurants, including the renowned Fouquet’s and even McDonald’s.

A massive tablecloth stretching 216 meters (236 yards) from the Arc de Triomphe to the intersection of Avenue George V provided a unique seating arrangement for the occasion. This event took place just two months prior to the Summer Olympics’ opening ceremony, which Paris is set to host.

According to organizers, the tablecloth, which was made in France from 100% recycled fibers, had a total surface area of 4,212 square meters (45,338 square feet).

Mayor Anne Hidalgo made a visit to the picnickers as well. In the past, the Champs-Élysées Committee has organized various open-air events, such as a large-scale movie screening and the world’s largest dictation event.
