Dozens of tornadoes ripped through America’s heartland, affecting millions of people and leaving a trail of devastation.
Twenty million Americans, from Texas to Iowa, are bracing for tornadoes, big hail, and winds gusting to 70 mph.
The National Weather Service reported at least 59 tornadoes in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa as of 7 p.m. ET.
According to the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center, there is an enhanced chance of severe weather over Kansas City, Missouri, Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska, and parts of Iowa, as well as a slight to marginal risk over much of Texas and surrounding Shreveport, Louisiana.
“Tornadoes, including a couple of strong tornadoes, very large hail (some greater than 2 inches in diameter), and wind damage remain possible this afternoon or evening from eastern Kansas and Nebraska into Iowa, western Missouri, eastern Oklahoma, western Arkansas, and northeast Texas,” the National Weather Service stated.
The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said that portions of a huge manufacturing plant collapsed, trapping at least 70 people.
