During a speech at the annual meeting of the National Rifle Association in Dallas, Texas, Donald Trump experienced a momentary pause lasting over 30 seconds.
Former President, who made the audience wait for over two hours from the scheduled time of his speech on Saturday, was expressing his admiration for the state of Texas when he abruptly stopped speaking at the podium.
Supporters of President Joe Biden wasted no time seizing the opportunity, considering that Mr. Trump, 77, often criticizes the 81-year-old president for his age, alleging that he is mentally unfit and too old for the job.
“The resilient Texan spirit of proud independence has been shaped by the courage and determination of cowboys, cattle hands, ranchers, rangers, oil workers, soldiers, and fearless pioneers,” Mr. Trump passionately declared to the enthusiastic gathering of gun owners.
Countless individuals arrived in this land with nothing more than the shoes on their feet, the garments on their backs, and the firearm in their saddle. United, they played a pivotal role in transforming America into the most remarkable nation in the annals of humanity.
As the music began to play, Mr. Trump suddenly froze in his tracks. During the prolonged pause, the former president even shook his head in disbelief.
“But now, our nation is in decline,” Mr. Trump continued. “We are witnessing a country that is failing, with the highest inflation in 58 years, collapsing banks, and skyrocketing interest rates.”
A video clip capturing a moment of freeze during a rally by Donald Trump was shared on Twitter by the account @BidensWins. The tweet accompanying the clip stated, “BREAKING: Donald Trump just glitched out and froze at his rally tonight. He is clearly unfit for office. Retweet so every American knows Trump is senile.”
There were different theories floating around regarding the reason behind his head shaking. Some speculated that the teleprompter had malfunctioned, causing him frustration. Others believed that he deliberately paused for emphasis or to synchronize with the accompanying music that usually plays towards the end of his speeches.
During his speech at the NRA convention, Mr. Trump took a moment to swat at a pesky fly that was buzzing around him.
The Biden campaign has once again highlighted Mr. Trump’s on-stage behavior, suggesting that it raises questions about his fitness for office. This comes after another incident just a day earlier.
During a speech at Minnesota’s Lincoln-Reagan Annual Dinner on Saturday, the Democratic president’s team criticized the former president for a moment when he leaned too hard on the lectern and “nearly falls down,” calling him “feeble.”
The caption reads, “Trump almost loses his balance on stage after leaning too heavily on his podium, and proceeds to vent his frustration by criticizing the event workers as ‘crappy’.”
In the video, the former president suddenly jerks to the side as the lectern beneath him shifts. He immediately begins expressing his frustration about the stage setup.
He jokingly remarked to the audience, eliciting hearty laughter, “Can you believe they set up this stage? It’s the worst platform I’ve ever seen. The whole place is practically crumbling.”
“I can’t help but notice it keeps tilting to the left,” Mr. Trump also jokingly remarked, “Just like too many other things!”
