Former President Trump will make a campaign stop in Las Vegas on Sunday ahead of the state’s impending Republican primary.
Nevada is the only state that Trump has yet to endorse in a competitive Senate primary. He plans to attend a fundraising event on Saturday during his stay in Nevada.
The former president might potentially make a last-minute decision in the Senate race, giving one of the Republicans a crucial boost as they prepare for an uphill battle against Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-Nevada) in the fall. Republicans believe the campaign for the party’s nomination will come down to two candidates: retired Army Capt. Sam Brown, who has been leading in polls, and former Ambassador to Iceland Jeffrey Ross Gunter.
A recent Fox News poll saw Trump topping his likely November opponent, President Biden, by 5 points, 50 percent to 45 percent, among registered voters in Nevada in a hypothetical match-up.
According to The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s polling index, the incumbent trails Trump by just over 3 percentage points (45.6 to 49 percent, respectively).
At 3 p.m. EDT, there are expectations for the former president to deliver remarks.
