Emergency 911 phone service has been restored in most of the areas affected by the outages on Wednesday night.
Several cities in four different states in the United States experienced 911 call outages earlier in the evening, as reported by officials. By Thursday morning, most of these outages had been resolved, although a few police departments in Texas are yet to confirm if cell and landline services have been restored.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department announced that service in the city had been fully restored shortly before 9:15 p.m. PT.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) announced on X that the 9-1-1 phone service has been fully restored. In a post on their platform, they stated, “We have successfully reached out to all individuals who made calls during the outage and provided them with the necessary assistance. Additionally, non-emergency calls are now functioning properly. We kindly remind everyone to reserve 9-1-1 calls for emergencies only.”
Nevada State Police have confirmed that service has been restored in Southern Nevada’s Clark County, which includes Las Vegas and Henderson. These areas had earlier reported outages.
South Dakota’s statewide emergency calling system suffered an outage, according to Pierre police. However, the Highway Patrol later announced that it had been restored.
“Great news! The South Dakota 911 system is up and running again,” announced SDHP on X. “We have successfully restored full operation to our emergency system, guaranteeing swift response to any situation. Rest assured, your safety is of utmost importance to us, and we are committed to ensuring that help is readily available whenever you need it. However, please refrain from making test calls to 911, as this may hinder the efficiency of our services.”
The sheriff’s office announced on Facebook that Dundy County, Nebraska, and its neighboring areas were facing outages. However, they assured the public that the non-emergency line and 911 texting were still operational. Thankfully, both cellular and landline 911 services were eventually restored, as mentioned in a subsequent post by the department.
Outages were experienced in several cities in Texas, including Del Rio and Kilgore.
The Kilgore Police Department took to Facebook to inform the public about intermittent outages they were experiencing. They urged residents to contact them at 903-983-1559 ext 1 in case of any emergencies.
