Johnny Wactor, an American actor, was shot dead in Los Angeles by a thief attempting to steal a part from his car.
The 37-year-old died after halting three men who were removing the catalytic converter from his parked vehicle.
Wactor, who also starred in the US television series General Hospital, passed away early on Saturday.
His agent, David Shaul, described him as an “outstanding human being” to Variety.
He added, “He would literally give you the clothes off his back.
“After over a decade together, he will leave a hole in our hearts forever.”
Wactor’s mother, Scarlett, told NBC4 that her son was returning to his car after work and discovered a stranger messing with it.
He approached the man to ask what was going on, believing it was being towed and not fearing any danger, and was shot immediately, she claimed.
She informed the outlet that the culprit escaped with two other males and that her son’s death was “senseless.”
The event occurred on the corner of West Pico Boulevard and South Hope Street in downtown Los Angeles. There have been no arrests made.
Grant, Wactor’s brother, told the Los Angeles Times that Wactor was a bartender on Saturday and was escorting a coworker to her car when he died.
“He was one of the most charismatic guys I met. His brother explained, “You could tell he was sincere when he spoke or listened.”
“He lived his life in his own way. He did exactly what he wanted until his last day. He walked the walk.โ
Producers at General Hospital shared a tribute, describing South Carolina-born Wactor as “truly one of a kind and a pleasure to work with each and every day.”
In addition to his two-year stint on the show as Brando Corbin, Wactor also starred in the 2013 NBC series Siberia and appeared in two episodes of HBO’s Westworld.
Thieves find catalytic converters valuable targets because they can sell the precious metals they contain.
