Woman Detained After Police Find Dead Body In Backseat Of Crashed Car

Police have arrested a 32-year-old woman after discovering a deceased woman in the backseat of her car. Authorities have confirmed that the death was not related to the single-vehicle accident the woman had been involved in.

According to a statement from the Olmstead County Sheriff’s Office released on Monday, the authorities responded to a single-vehicle accident on Saturday morning at around 7 a.m. on Interstate 90 going eastbound near the Highway 42 Exit in Olmstead County. During the incident, Margot Lewis, a 32-year-old woman, was being tended to by someone who happened to pass by when the police arrived at the scene.

According to authorities, Margot Lewis, a 32-year-old woman with an unknown address, was being helped by a passerby after she had exited the vehicle. Upon further investigation, authorities discovered the body of a deceased 35-year-old woman in the back seat. Police determined that the condition of the deceased was suspicious and that the cause of death was not related to the car accident.

The authorities have succeeded in identifying the victim. However, her name is being withheld at the moment until her next of kin is informed about the tragic incident.

According to authorities, Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service (MCAS) transported Ms. Lewis to the hospital and medically cleared her. Subsequently, she was taken into custody for Interference with a Dead Body and transported to the Adult Detention Center (ADC).

According to the Olmstead County Sheriff’s Office, Lewis is scheduled to appear in court for this case on Tuesday.

The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office expressed their heartfelt condolences to the loved ones of the deceased individual. The Minnesota State Patrol, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), Eyota Fire Department, and Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service provided assistance during the initial call.

At present, the ongoing investigation regarding the incident is still in progress and no additional details will be disclosed as of now.
