Robert De Niro expresses his disbelief at the lack of seriousness with which voters treat Donald Trump. He draws a comparison between the former president and historical figures such as Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini.
During a Tuesday appearance on “The View,” the actor from “Ezra” expressed his confusion about why people are not taking Trump seriously.
Hollywood actor Robert De Niro, known for his outspoken criticism of President Trump, expressed his concerns about leaders who are not taken seriously. Drawing parallels to historical figures like Hitler and Mussolini, De Niro emphasized the danger of dismissing individuals who may initially appear as fools and clowns.
“Who doesn’t believe that this guy will follow through on his promises?” he questioned, referring to the 45th president.
“He has already done it,” the 80-year-old Academy Award winner continued.
“So, what’s next? Are we just going to sit around and smugly say, ‘We warned you’?”
Robert De Niro expressed his firm belief that if the candidate is elected, it will bring about significant changes to the country, impacting every individual.
“They will see,” he said, referring to those who support him with anger and hate, as that is what he promotes.
Whoopi Goldberg, a co-host of ABC’s daytime talk show, pointed out that if Trump were to be re-elected as president, he would continue to hold the position and not step down.
According to Goldberg, the individual’s plan is to persist until their last breath.
“I couldn’t agree more,” De Niro concurred.
“He’s not conceding it now, so just imagine if he actually won the election – it would be a complete disaster. We’ll be facing such intense civil strife,” De Niro expressed his concern.
In the previous year, Trump made a statement mentioning that he would not pursue a third term in office if he is reelected, as it is prohibited by the Constitution.
According to Trump, the problems that were discussed could be resolved within a shorter time frame of six months to a year, rather than the previously mentioned eight years.
De Niro has never shied away from expressing his criticism of Trump, even going so far as to say that he wanted to “punch” him in the face. He has also described the former president as a “flat-out blatant racist.” In response, Trump has not held back either, labeling De Niro as a “very low IQ individual.”
