Mavericks soccer student-athletes of the week at Northern Oklahoma College Tonkawa are Memory Phiri, women, and Rojay Smith, men.
Head Women’s Coach Juan de Dios Castillo and Head Men’s Coach Michael DuRoy announced the selections for the week ending Sept. 18.
According to Castillo, Phiri scored two goals in the 8-0 win over Metropolitan Community College-Blue River at Independence, Mo. Sept. 16. She has had a total of seven goals this season.
Phiri is a sophomore forward from Lusaka, Zambia.
“Rojay scored two goals in the 3-1 win over Blue River,” DuRoy said. “He leads the team in goals scored for the season.”
Smith is a freshman forward from Bridgeport, Jamaica.
Overall records are women, 7-0-1 and men, 6-3. The next home game for both teams is Oct. 2 against Murray State College of Tishomingo. Women play at 2 p.m. and men play at 4 p.m.
