The House of Representatives has successfully passed a foreign aid package worth $95 billion on Saturday, following a heated debate that spanned several months. This comprehensive legislation encompasses various crucial allocations, including $61 billion designated for Ukraine, $26 billion for Israel, as well as humanitarian assistance for civilians affected by conflicts in areas such as the Gaza Strip. Additionally, the package includes $8 billion for the Indo-Pacific region and a range of national security provisions, which may potentially involve a ban on the popular social media app, TikTok.
This week, there has been a growing support for her motion to vacate the speaker’s gavel, with endorsements coming from Reps. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.). However, Greene has not yet announced when she plans to initiate a vote on this matter. It has become more challenging to trigger the ouster resolution, as former President Trump expressed his endorsement of Johnson’s leadership during their joint press conference in Florida last week.
In addition to Johnson, Greene strongly criticized her fellow colleagues in the conferences for their opposition to her amendment concerning funds for Kyiv. She went on to share a list of 139 GOP members who voted against her amendment.
In a recent post on X, Greene expressed her disappointment with the 139 Republicans who voted against her amendment. She stated, “Here are the 139 Republicans who just voted against my amendment to strip every penny of your tax dollars from Mike Johnson’s $61 BILLION Ukraine war spending bill.” This statement was made just minutes before the foreign package passed and is now heading to the Senate.
