According to Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), President Biden should capitalize on former President Trump’s guilty verdict in the New York hush money case during his campaign.
According to the individual, the president should choose the appropriate timing and context to present their arguments. Immediately following the conviction, it is understandable for the president to maintain a sense of dignity and acknowledge the importance of the jury system. However, moving forward, the individual believes that the president should actively engage in the matter at hand.
“He has a competitor who is a convicted felon. If the situation were reversed, they would surely be aggressively targeting Joe Biden. They are spreading these false allegations about Joe Biden regardless. Therefore, I believe it is crucial for both the President and the Democrats to strongly present their case to the American people.”
Last Thursday, Trump was convicted on 34 counts of falsifying business records. Schiff emphasized that having a “convicted felon” in the White House would hinder progress and prevent the accomplishment of important tasks.
โYou don’t want the country to be run improperly by a convicted felon, turning the Oval Office and the federal government into a racketeering operation. Making this powerful case, supported by the verdict here,” he said.
After the verdict, Biden’s campaign emphasized the importance of defeating Trump through the electoral process in order to prevent him from returning to the Oval Office. In a fundraising email, the campaign referred to Trump as a “convicted felon.”
During the trial in Manhattan, Biden’s campaign refrained from directly criticizing Trump regarding the hush money case. However, as the verdict drew near, they organized an event outside the courthouse with actor Robert De Niro to present their argument for choosing Biden over Trump.
In response to Trump’s claims that the trial was “rigged,” Biden criticized the former president’s remarks as “irresponsible” and “reckless.” The campaign further emphasized that Trump’s reaction to his conviction only serves to underscore why he is unfit to be president.
