According to Massachusetts authorities, a father charged three years ago with raping his 16-year-old stepdaughter kidnapped and murdered her before shooting himself.
Acton police arrived at 4 p.m. Thursday to a report of the girl’s kidnapping by her stepfather, 49-year-old Juliano Santana. According to a press release from the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office, Santana will face six counts of aggravated rape in 2021. According to the district attorney’s office, the girl he abducted was the victim. Santana was free after posting a $30,000 bond and wearing a GPS ankle monitor. A GoFundMe page only named the girl Christina. The police have not publicly named the victim.
Following the abduction, police called Santana’s probation officer, who tracked him down to his unit on Great Road. Officers rushed to the parking lot and discovered Christina and Santana dead from gunshot wounds in his car. Prosecutors allege he murdered his stepdaughter before committing suicide. The police then found that Santana kidnapped Christina while she was walking home from school.
Christina told officials on September 7, 2021, that Santana had raped her many times. According to an arrest affidavit acquired by Boston station WBTS, one of the assaults occurred as recently as the previous month. According to the complaint, Christina and her sister kept a diary where they discussed the incident. Christina reportedly told authorities that Santana instructed her “not to be scared and not to tell her mom.”
According to the affidavit, after detectives arrested him, he informed them he needed to speak with an attorney regarding “a medical condition” relating to the accusations. As part of his release, a judge ordered Santana to remain away from and have no contact with the victim, as well as no unsupervised contact with anybody under the age of 18, according to prosecutors.
The girl has an active restraining order against Santana. Local ABC station WCVB received a copy of the restraining order.
“I also fear for my safety because I realized that I do not know this man, and based on this situation, I have no idea what he is capable of,” Christina’s mother, Olena Wilson, reportedly wrote.
July was the scheduled date for Santana’s rape trial.
According to the GoFundMe page, Christina’s stepfather “took her life from her family in an unthinkable act of violence.”
The advertisement stated, “We are all struggling to cope with the overwhelming grief and trauma, leaving the whole community shattered.” “Christina was a bright, energetic 16-year-old girl who excelled in science and aspired to attend college one day. She had recently started driving and was eager to take another step toward independence. Christina’s passing creates an enduring void.
